BIOGRAPHY
Artist Overview
MaYita is a Colombian-born, New York–based artist whose work lives at the intersection of ceremonial music, collective prayer, and contemporary sound design. Her music is rooted in deep listening, relational artistry, and lived experience through ceremony. Each project unfolds as a sonic altar – prayers and invitations into presence, remembrance, and shared humanity.
Her albums MAYA and SOMOS form a continuous prayer, a journey from individual remembrance toward collective awakening. Drawing from ancestral memory, devotional practice, and future-facing sound, MaYita’s work bridges ancient wisdom and contemporary expression with care, humility, and integrity.
MaYita collaborates in long-term relationships with Indigenous elders, musicians, and communities from Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and beyond, honoring clear boundaries around ceremonial knowledge while translating essence into music meant for listening spaces, theaters, and festivals worldwide.
Artistic Approach
MaYita’s music is designed for deep encounters and shared listening. Her compositions are spacious, vocal-centered, and rhythmically intentional, allowing listeners to enter states of reflection, emotional openness, and embodied presence.
Her work emerges in relationship with territory, honoring the lands, waters, and ancestral memories that shape collective experience. Through sound, MaYita invites a remembering that is both personal and communal, creating spaces where audiences can sense their belonging within a wider human and ecological field.
Her performances are ceremonially informed concerts, honoring lineage while remaining accessible, respectful, and appropriate for public cultural spaces. These gatherings support moments of collective attunement, where listening becomes a form of connection and gentle awakening.
Her work is often described as:
- Devotional, immersive, and expansive
- Rooted in collective voice, listening, and shared presence
- Emotionally grounding, expansive, and initiatory
- Oriented toward community resonance, unity, and collective remembrance
- Designed for presence
DISCOGRAPHY
MAYA: the album
MAYA, her first solo album, is the result of several years of spiritual transformation, culminating in 9 songs with profound codes of life and knowledge.
From the activation of early memories and the essential role of music in the fabric of the universe, through the knowledge and use of power plants, to reflections on the magic and truth that reside within each of us; MAYA is an album laden with meanings and reflections that delve into the human condition and the mission that each person fulfills in the world today.
“This album serves as a platform to share the medicinal practices that have been entrusted to me, shedding light on the role of earth keepers and their tools. It is an invitation to those who resonate with this mission, inviting them to join as fellow guardians on this journey.”
The MAYA album directly addresses the role of being earth keepers, facilitates connections between territories, lineages, and prayers, and helps establish alliances across the Americas and the world.

SomoS: A Musical Prayer for Unity
Release date: June 25, 2025
Emerging from the depths of the heart of the earth and seeking connection with the vastness of the cosmos that surrounds us, SOMOS is born—the second album by MaYita Music.
SOMOS is a new part of MaYita’s musical journey that goes beyond the call to remembrance of Recuerda and rises as a polyphonic album for the healing of humanity, for balance and harmony with all that surrounds us.
This prayer, anchored in the ancestral wisdoms of the Americas and woven with the frequencies of our allies across the world, is at once an offering to the sacred that dwells within each of us and unites us as a community.
With every heartbeat, with every beat of the drum, in every voice that has joined this adventure, SOMOS reminds us that humanity vibrates in unison, that we are all earth, spirit and creation.
SOMOS: Alliances and Collaborations
SOMOS is a polyphonic and ceremonial experiment where the many voices of powerful guardians offer their prayers, wisdom, and soul to the work of MaYita.
This sonic prayer has been woven and developed with the participation and presence of:
- Willa Kveta – My beloved wife, a voice of pure light, weaving celestial harmonies that uplift the spirit.
- Abuela Ana María (Ecoaldea Atlántida Colombia) – A wisdom keeper, anchoring the music in the ancestral memory of the land. She shares her profound prayer to the Mother and to the Earth.

INSTRUMENTALS
The path of MaYita Music continues to unfold, and in this moment a new chapter opens. For years, music has been the bridge that taught me to remember. MAYA awakened that inner remembrance. SOMOS expanded the prayer toward the community.
Now, the instrumental albums reveal the thread that has always united these two works: a single flow of vibration, a journey from the “I” to the “we.”
The instrumental versions were born to reveal what breathes beneath the voice. They are the energetic skeleton of MAYA and SOMOS: the pure intention, the pulse, the invisible architecture that holds each song.
Without words, each track becomes a space of ceremony, contemplation, and integration—a place to listen from the heart and to enter the prayer without distraction.
