MaYita, the artist:

Maya Martínez Gómez, known as MaYita, is a musical artist, medicine woman, and lover of existence who lives between Brooklyn, California, Colombia, and Brazil, traveling through music, magic, and time.

From a young age, MaYita displayed a special talent and passion for music that led her to various musical and artistic stages.

After completing her musical studies in Cuba and subsequently at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, MaYita reached a significant milestone by signing with Nacional Records in 2005 as part of the band Pacha Massive and their debut album “All Good Things”.

With Pacha Massive, she performed on prestigious stages such as Madison Square Garden, Central Park’s “Summer Stage,” and Prospect Park’s “Celebrate Brooklyn,” sharing the stage with Latin music legends like Bomba Estéreo, Café Tacuba, Aterciopelados, and Taeo Cruz.

In parallel, MaYita was part of the United States Army, serving as a sound engineer for the 78th Army Band in New York. This 8-year career culminated in a historic achievement: becoming the first person to graduate as a Sound Engineer at The Army School of Music.

Following this experience and listening to her heart’s calling, MaYita ventured into music therapy, embarking on a personal journey of learning with various tribes and communities across the Americas. Through this journey, she has cultivated a deep understanding of the healing power of music and its importance for a better communal life.
