Maya Martinez’s story is one of profound love for the art of music, a passion that has shaped her life from a young age.

Maya’s musical journey began at the age of 9, igniting a lifelong dedication to studying, performing, recording, and composing original pieces. Her thirst for musical knowledge led her to an endless exploration through the realms of music therapy, classical music, jazz, and music production.

Born in the lush heart of Colombia and raised amidst the vibrant tapestry of New York City, Maya’s multicultural upbringing weaves its way into her music, enriching her compositions with diverse influences.

Her quest for musical wisdom took her to the enchanting streets of La Havana, Cuba, where she immersed herself in classical music traditions. Later, she honed her skills at the iconic Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, where she embraced the vibrant rhythms of jazz. Her journey into music production further expanded her craft and nurtured her creativity.

In 2005, Maya’s journey reached a significant milestone as she signed with Nacional Records, embarking on a new chapter in her career. Teaming up with her bandmate, they released their critically acclaimed debut album, “All Good Things,” under the band name Pacha Massive. This musical gem resonated widely, gracing prestigious stages such as Madison Square Garden, Central Park’s “Summer Stage,” and Prospect Park’s “Celebrate Brooklyn.” Maya shared these stages with legends of Latin music, including Bomba Estereo, Café Tacuba, Aterciopelados, and Taeo Cruz.

Maya’s journey took a remarkable turn when she joined the United States Army, serving as a sound engineer for the esteemed 78th Army Band in NYC for eight dedicated years. Her military service culminated in a historic achievement, becoming the first person to graduate as a sound engineer from The Army School of Music, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication and contribution.

As a “Soldier of Sound,” Maya delved into music therapy, exploring sound’s power of intention and its profound effectiveness as a clinical healing tool.

Her quest for knowledge led her to study medicine music with tribes and communities in South and Central America over the past decade, nurturing a deep understanding of music’s healing power.

Maya’s journey has been enriched through collaborations with various musicians, healers, and mentors, fostering a talented and close-knit team of collaborators.

Maya’s story is not one of grandeur but of humble beginnings, relentless dedication, and an enduring love for the art of music.
